Shannon Pritchard is an attorney with 22 years of experience, focused primarily on the area of family law. She attended the University of Texas at Arlington as an undergrad (History major, Economics minor), and went on to complete law school at Texas Wesleyan University School of Law, now known as Texas A&M University School of Law.
Over her career, Shannon has practiced several areas of law, including Bankruptcy, Personal Injury, Criminal (misdemeanor levels), and some Civil. Due to this diversity, Shannon is keenly aware of how these other areas of law could affect outcomes in Family Law. Likewise, Shannon has appeared in Courts in Dallas, Collin, Johnson, Hood, Ellis, Parker, and Wise counties, in addition to her home base in Tarrant County. Due to this diversity, Shannon is familiar with several judges in the larger Metroplex.
When choosing an attorney to guide you through the labyrinth that can be a Family law case, it is crucial to pick someone who has several qualities: compassion, knowledge of the law and the judge in whose court you will be appearing, an ability to communicate effectively, and honesty. Shannon has a reputation, with the Courts and her clients, for being plain spoken and direct. Her philosophy is summed up as follows:
“I don’t believe I’m serving my clients fully if I only tell them what they would like to hear – sometimes in life we need to hear things we’d prefer never to hear. It is my job to help my clients understand what can or can’t be done in their situation as the law will currently apply.”
In all cases, it is typically better for clients and their families to make agreements with the opposing party regarding conservatorship, possession and access, and rights and duties to children. And it can be particularly beneficial if splitting couples can come up with their division of property. However, Shannon is not afraid to have hearings and get her client’s facts and evidence in front of the judge – what some people think of as their “day in court,” if she and her client’s efforts to come to an agreement with the opposing party is not possible.
